Virtuelle historische Dokumente
Mit dem “Turning the Pages”-Projekt präsentiert die British Library einige der kostbarsten Bücher aus ihrem Bestand online. Es handelt sich dabei u.a. um ein Skizzenbuch Leonardo da Vincis oder um Mozarts musikalisches Tagebuch. Die Werke sind aufwändig digitalisiert und mit “Turning the Pages”-Technologie aufbereitet. Zum einen kann tatsächlich virtuell in den Werken geblättert werden, darüber hinaus stehen ausführliche Erläuterungen als Text und/oder im Audioformat zur Verfügung. Besonders reizvoll ist eine integrierte Lupe, mit der selbst kleine Details der Originale erkennbar sind. Virtueller Buchbestand (Stand 08/2007), The British Library (engl.):
